Pepper Rewards is an iOS and Android app that sells discounted, new gift cards in exact amounts that are delivered instantly on your phone. This lets you to wait until the moment before purchase when you already have the final purchase price (in-person or online), and then go buy a discounted gift card via the app down to the penny. The main problem with gift cards is when you don’t use up the entire balance. This avoids the waste.
Retailer options include Walmart, Amazon, Target, Lowe’s, and Home Depot. For example, right now I see 15% off DoorDash and $7.50 off $25 at Domino’s Pizza and Jamba Juice. Right now, you can stack two of their offers to get $130 of Amazon, Target, or Walmart gift cards for $100.
- Limited-time offer: 10% back for first 30 days. Ends 2/15. All new sign-ups get an additional 5% back for the first 30 days of purchases. This is on top of the standard up to 5% back, for a total of 10% back.
- $20 referral bonus. If you join using a referral promo code at sign-up (mine is 588494), you can receive a $20 credit after you spend $100 within 90 days.
Here’s a walkthrough:
- First, download the Pepper Rewards app and be sure to enter a referral code 588494 on the first screen when joining. This will get you $20 towards a future purchase after you make a $100 purchase.
- Next, purchase a $100 gift card at Amazon/Target/Walmart using the rewards credit card of your choice. (The charge will say “Moocho”, the previous name of Pepper). You will earn 20 points initially for the purchase (worth $5 later) on top of 6 points as a new member. They will create an Amazon gift code instantly, which you can redeem immediately into your Amazon.com account.
- After 30 days, you should get another 20 points as part of the extra 5% promo (total 10%) mentioned above. That will get you another $5 value.
- You can now purchase another $30 gift card at Amazon/Target/Walmart using your rewards points. There is a minimum redemption of 20 point increments, so those other 6 points must be saved up for later use.
I joined with a referral promo code, bought the $100 Amazon gift card, redeemed it to my Amazon account, got my 26 points (worth $6.50) and am currently waiting on the rest to post. The 10% promo deal is scheduled to end February 15th, and I’m not sure when the $20 referral bonus ends. I am debating whether to buy more Amazon gift cards at 10% back.
